In 1994, Geraldine Felton, EdD, FAAN, who was dean of the UI College of Nursing, and John Tinker, MD, then-chair of the UI Carver College of Medicine Department of Anesthesia, built a program that first awarded master’s degrees for nurse anesthetists.
