Melissa Whisler, MBA, MHA, has been appointed to a new position in the office of the CEO. She will become administrative chief of staff at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, effective Wednesday, June 12.
In the role, she will be working closely with the CEO and hospital executives to promote alignment of institutional strategic initiatives and priorities across departments. She will work with key enterprise stakeholders, including departmental executive officers, leadership in the Office of the Vice President for Medical Affairs and across campus, and external stakeholders.
“This role is incredibly exciting to me as it’s an opportunity to work with great providers in our institution, engage clinical leaders on their vision, and bring the business and administrative components together to achieve that vision,” says Whisler.
Whisler joined University of Iowa Health Care in 2008 and has served as clinical department administrator in the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics since July of 2015. Prior to that role, she was the clinical department administrator for the Emergency Department.
John Heinemann, MHA, MPH, will be serving as the interim clinical department administrator in the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics. He joined UI Health Care in 2017 as an associate administrator and has previous administrator experience in various hospital and health care settings.
