UI Sleep Disorders Center receives reaccreditation

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) has awarded reaccreditation to the UI Sleep Disorders Center. The reaccreditation extends through a five-year period until 2023.

Sleep facility accreditation through the AASM includes accreditation for all types of sleep testing, including in-center polysomnography, multiple sleep latency testing, maintenance of wakefulness testing, and home sleep apnea testing.

Achieving accreditation from the AASM demonstrates a sleep medicine provider’s commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care through adherence to the AASM Standards for Accreditation. AASM accreditation is voluntary and exhibits a facility’s dedication to the practice of sleep medicine.

Specialists at the UI Sleep Disorders Center provide care for adults and children affected by all types of sleep-related conditions or symptoms, including obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, parasomnias (unwanted body movements associated with sleep), periodic limb movements during sleep, and seizures in sleep.

In addition to traditional sleep testing that takes place in a laboratory setting, the UI Sleep Disorders Clinic also offers a convenient at-home sleep test.
