Scott Turner, MA, chief operating officer of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and executive director of University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, has accepted the position of chief operating officer for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and executive vice president for Children’s Hospital and Health System, effective in January 2018.
With UI Health Care, one of Turner’s major accomplishments was overseeing the planning, design, construction, and operational transition to the new, 189-bed UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital, which opened in February 2017.
Turner joined UI Health Care in 2012 as executive director of the children’s hospital. He has been instrumental in ensuring operational effectiveness and working with UI Health Care administrators as well as Stead Family Department of Pediatrics physicians and staff to achieve targeted goals in quality, safety, and patient experience.
In 2013, he was named interim co-chief operating officer of UI Hospitals and Clinics, with administrative responsibilities for the entire health care enterprise in addition to leadership duties for the children’s hospital. This position became permanent in 2014. In both roles, he has proven to be an innovative, highly collaborative, and effective strategic thinker and leader.
