Katie Schneider, MSN, RN, CEN, and Heather Andresen, BSN, RN, CEN, were both recently recognized by the Iowa Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) at the 24th annual ENA conference.
Katie Schneider – ENA Educator of the Year
Do you remember your favorite teacher? For many emergency nursing specialists at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, their favorite instructor could well be Katie Schneider.
She was recently honored by the Iowa Emergency Nursing Association as its 2018 Emergency Nurse Educator.
Katie stands out as a leader because she puts her fellow staff nurses first and gives them the tools they need to succeed. The results speak for themselves. UI Hospitals and Clinics Emergency Department has a very low turnover rate each year, averaging less than 5 percent, in large part due to the strong orientation program that Katie helps lead.
Heather Andresen – ENA Award for Rising Star
Heather Andresen, BSN, RN, CEN, is an up and comer. We know because she recently received the Iowa Emergency Nursing Association Award as its “Rising Star” for 2018.
Heather, has already become a certified emergency nurse, presents educational lectures to her coworkers, and takes part in training on how to care for people injured by hazardous materials.
