Research awards earned by more than 40 students

More than 100 medical students presented research at the 56th Annual Carver College of Medicine Student Medical Research Conference held Sept. 18 and 19. Medical students from M1 to M4 and MSTP students presented their work in oral and poster format and were evaluated by 55 faculty and staff judges. Forty-one students earned awards and three Summer Research Fellowship Mentors nominated by their respective mentees were also honored. View a complete list of award winners here.

Arlene Drack, MD, director of Pediatric Electroretinogram services and clinical professor with joint appointments in Ophthalmic Genetics, Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, and Pediatrics, was the keynote speaker at the awards banquet held on Sep. 20 at the Iowa Memorial Union.

The annual conference is an opportunity for medical students who have conducted research to present their results, receive feedback, and compete for cash awards sponsored by various departments and by the University of Iowa Center for Advancement donors.
