It’s kind to remind: How to kindly help others follow our safety practices

How do you nicely tell someone that they’re standing a bit too close? Or wearing their mask below their nose? It can feel awkward or uncomfortable. You might just not know what to say.

But it’s kind to remind. A gentle (or humorous) reminder of our safety practices is a way to show that you care about others. Whether it’s at work with a colleague or a patient, or out in the community, the best way to show our “Iowa Nice” attitude is to kindly remind.

To help you in awkward moments when you’re not sure what to say, we’ve given several examples below.

Let us know how you kindly remind in the comments section.

  1. I think this is a great reminder since I am seeing more and more staff getting lax about wearing masks in the skywalks and hallways. It’s really disheartening that our own staff seem to not be following safety protocols.
