University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics has received the American Heart Association’s Get with the Guidelines®—Stroke Gold quality achievement award for its commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines.
Each year, program participants qualify for this award by demonstrating how their organization has committed to providing quality care for stroke patients. In addition to following treatment guidelines, the UI Comprehensive Stroke Center educates patients to help them manage their health and recovery at home.
The UI Comprehensive Stroke Center was also honored with the American Heart Association’s Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll for meeting specific criteria reducing the time from a patient arriving at the hospital to when clot-busting drugs are given.
Additionally, UI Hospitals and Clinics received the American Heart Association’s Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.
Recipients of the Type 2 Honor Roll award aim to ensure patients with Type 2 diabetes—who might be at higher risk for complications—receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke.
With these awards, UI Hospitals & Clinics has again proven its commitment to improving patient care, ensuring more people in the state of Iowa can experience longer, healthier lives. Congratulations to all the faculty and staff working in the UI Comprehensive Stroke Center whose hard work has culminated in this recognition.
