As of Monday, June 4, the Office of Facilities Planning and Management in the Carver College of Medicine has integrated with the Department of Capital Management in UI Hospitals and Clinics. The newly integrated unit will be called “UI Health Care Capital Management and Facilities Planning” and be recognized as a corporate service alongside our other integrated units (e.g., Finance, Human Resources, Information Systems, Marketing and Communications, etc.) that provide cross-enterprise services.
Jason Miller, director of project management in Capital Management, now serves as the day-to-day manager of the programs and functions of Facilities Planning and Management, and Philip Boothby, executive director of Capital Management, has administrative oversight of both areas.
Jason Miller joined Capital Management in 2011, overseeing construction of the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital, Hospital Parking Ramp 2, and all enabling work, and Philip Boothby became the executive director of Capital Management on Oct. 31, 2016.
This opportunity to align organizational structure and resources came about with the planned departure of Rebecca Waltman, who has served as the director of Facilities Planning and Management since 2014. Waltman will work to ensure a smooth transition through June 30, 2018, when she departs to pursue another career opportunity.
