Grateful patient letter: ‘Morganne went above and beyond’

A patient’s family recognized Morganne Pfaffle, BSN, RN, of the Surgical and Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (SNICU), for her compassionate and positive care, by saying:

“Morganne went above and beyond to ensure that my husband was well taken care of during his stay in SNICU. She was very patient and attentive to his needs; whether she came to check on his vitals or to adjust the bed, Morganne always did everything with a positive attitude and a warm, friendly demeanor. Even the small act of patiently listening to and understanding my husband as he tried to speak was significant, as Morganne demonstrated a kind of cultural humility that is so needed and important in health care. He felt that he was cared for with respect, openness, and compassion, regardless of his background or condition. Morganne also acknowledged us, my husband’s family members, and was very helpful in answering our questions and communicating updates so that we felt included in the process of his care. With much gratitude and admiration, thank you, Morganne!”
