John Carroll, RN, BSN, a nurse on the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), was recently nominated for a DAISY Award by a patient, who said:
“While I was in ICU I had a lot of excellent care. But one young man especially stands out, and that is John. He was so sensitive to my urgent needs, trying to make me comfortable, even though at times, I was in a lot of pain. He was always cheerful and positive, encouraging me whenever I made even the slightest progress.
“I hardly ever saw him seated at the desk unless he was doing work on the computer. And anytime an employee needed help he was there.
“He offers himself selflessly to others. Hats off to a compassionate, ambitious guy who makes a difference in other’s lives! I will not forget him!”
