Free skin screening at the Courage Ride, Aug. 19

For the fourth year in a row, dermatologists from UI Hospitals and Clinics will partner with the Courage Ride to provide free skin screenings from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, in the lower level of Iowa Mennonite School (1421 540th St, SW, Kalona). This service is free and open to the public.

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States, affecting 1 in every 5 Americans. When caught early, most skin cancers can be cured, even melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer). Monthly self-exams and annual exams by a dermatologist will help detect and treat skin cancer early.
