The Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) invites community members to its 40th anniversary celebration on Sept. 20, at the Oakdale Ballroom in the Marriott in Coralville, Iowa. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the celebration program will officially begin at 7:30 p.m. The anniversary celebration will allow supporters to reflect on the past 40 years of work and learn about future support to victims/survivors. The night will be one to remember with the jazz band Big Fun, an opening keynote by Deb Talan of The Weepies, a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar.
The Domestic Violence Intervention Program began officially on Sept. 21, 1979, and by 1980 it was clear that providing emergency housing and crisis line services were vital to our community. Over the past 40 years, DVIP has provided free and confidential crisis services to victim/survivors of intimate partner abuse, dating violence, stalking, and human trafficking.
An opening keynote by Deb Talan will begin the night with a story of survival, empowerment, and hope told through words and song. DVIP is honored to have many guests join them during their celebration on Sept. 20, including founding members, past board members, and hundreds of their supporters.
