The Doc Dash 5K race/walk will take place this year at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Medical Education and Research Facility (MERF), 375 Newton Road in Iowa City.
It takes its route through the health sciences campus and surrounding neighborhood and is a 30-year tradition supported by the Carver College of Medicine. A shorter children’s race—dubbed the “Doc-ling Dash”—will start at 8:30 a.m. The race is open to the general public.
All Doc Dash proceeds go to the Iowa City Free Medical Clinic and the UI Mobile Clinic. These Iowa City organizations provide services to underserved populations who lack health insurance. The Mobile Clinic draws its volunteers entirely from the Carver College of Medicine and students of other health care disciplines to aid in the training of future health care professionals. The Doc Dash supports these medical clinics and helps them provide the needed free health care services for our community.
