Distinguished Biomedical Scholars lecture

“The Metabolic Biology of the Endoplasmic Reticulum in Health and Disease,” 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, Prem Sahai Auditorium, 1110 Medical Education Research Facility.

Gökhan Hotamιslιgil, MD, PhD
James Stevens Simmons Professor of Genetics and Metabolism
Director, Sabri Ülker Center for Nutrient, Genetic and Metabolic Research
Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

The major focus of the Hotamιslιgil lab is to study the interactions between metabolic and immune responses, which drive numerous chronic diseases. Using biochemical, genetic, and physiological approaches, we aim to identify specific abnormalities in organelle homeostasis and lipid metabolism which are involved in human metabolic and inflammatory diseases including obesity, diabetes, fatty liver disease, atherosclerosis, and asthma.
