Collaborative vaping research workshop

The College of Public Health and the Iowa Institute of Public Health Research and Policy are hosting a workshop to discuss state-of-the-art vaping research from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31 in the College of Public Health Building, C217. There will be short talks from faculty, a collaborative funding opportunity discussed, and time for networking.

Brief presentations from faculty include:

  • Alejandro Comellas, associate professor, Internal Medicine, researching the pulmonary effects of vaping
  • Shannon Watkins, assistant professor, Community & Behavioral Health, researching e-cigarette use in young adults and how e-cigarette flavors influence and interact with use of other tobacco products
  • Wei Bao, assistant professor, epidemiology, researching the health effects of e-cigarette use
  • Rima Afifi, professor, Community & Behavioral Health, researching the determinants and context of e-cigarette use and co-use with other substances among adolescents, youth, and young adults
