Updates to email system begin Nov. 8

Health Care Information Systems is upgrading the email system to increase functionality, security, and storage limits.  

On Wednesday, Nov. 8:

  • Outlook Web Access (OWA, https://mail.healthcare.uiowa.edu) will have a new login page, and Two-Factor Authentication using DUO will be required when using Outlook Web Access from offsite.
  • Old email applications will no longer connect (e.g. Outlook 2007, 2003, or any client using IMAP).

On Wednesday, Nov. 15:

  • Phones/tablets accessing UI Health Care email will need to have at least a PIN code to secure the device.

Starting the week of Nov. 27:

  • HCIS will start the migration of mailboxes to a new server, which will take several weeks to complete. After your mailbox has been migrated, your mailbox quota will be increase from 750 MB to 8 GB, and Outlook Web App will have significantly increased functionality. No action will be required on your part.
