Updated COVID-19 boosters and flu vaccinations now available for employees

Whether you’re hoping to get the updated (bivalent) COVID-19 booster, the flu vaccination, or both, getting vaccinated through UI Health Care is easy.

Beginning Sept. 23, employees and volunteers who would like to receive their flu vaccination and COVID-19 booster—if eligible—at the same time can do so.

Is it safe to receive the COVID-19 booster and a flu vaccination at the same time?

Yes, both flu and COVID-19 vaccines can be administered at the same visit. In addition to flu vaccine, the COVID-19 vaccine can be given at the same time as other vaccines as well.

However, you do not have to receive both vaccinations at the same time. In general, the primary vaccination series and subsequent boosters provide a high level of protection against serious illness. This updated booster helps us to get on a more regular schedule for vaccinations, similar to the annual flu vaccine.

Employees are encouraged to bring their COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card when receiving their updated booster.

What to do before vaccination (for flu and COVID-19 boosters)

Those who wish to receive a flu vaccination OR an updated (bivalent) COVID-19 booster must first complete their ReadySet surveys.*

Visit uehc.link/MyReadySet and click “Health Surveys” to get started.

Where you can get vaccinated

You can receive both your flu vaccine and a COVID-19 booster from 7:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Pediatric Conference Center (Elevator F, Level 2) or by visiting a local pharmacy.

Employees working at UI Health Care–Iowa River Landing can also schedule their COVID-19 booster through MyChart.

Flu vaccinations are also available at several scheduled clinics.

  1. To clarify, as long as we complete the ReadySet survey first the COVID booster can be administered on a walk-in basis from 7:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Pediatric Conference Center (Elevator F, Level 2) — correct?

    • Hi Troy,

Yes. It’s encouraged—but not required—that employees bring their COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card with them. But, as long as their ReadySet survey is completed, they can receive the updated COVID booster at the same time as their flu vaccination.

      • Hi Tanner,
Thanks for the information. If I already received my flu vaccine via UIHC, am I still OK to come in and receive just the COVID booster?

        • Hi Troy,

Yes, you should still be able to receive just the updated COVID-19 booster if you walk in the Peds Conference Center during the hours listed above.

      • If I forgot to bring my COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, can I get the card updated at a later time after I receive vaccination?

        • Hi Sanjoy,

If you forgot to bring your card, you may print out a record of your vaccines from ReadySet or use the QR code in MyChart.

  3. I can not find the COVID survey in Readyset. Can I just walk in the employee clinic to receive the updated COVID vaccine?
