Top hand hygiene performers awarded for September

The best performing unit in September was 8JCP at 96 percent.

For September 2017, the best performing unit was 8JCP (burn), with an adherence rate of 96 percent, and social work was named the best performing job role, with 100 percent compliance.

7JCP (dialysis) earned the hand hygiene trophy for the most improved unit in September, with a 10 percent increase. Social work was the most improved job role, with a 40 percent improvement in hand hygiene adherence.

Congratulations to the following units for achieving 100 percent hand hygiene for the week of Sept. 24 to 30:

  • 3BT (med/psych)
  • 7JCP (respiratory specialty and comprehensive care)
  • 8JCP (burn)
  • SICU (surgical intensive care)

The following job roles achieved 100 percent hand hygiene adherence during that week:

  • Child life
  • Lab
  • PA/ARNP/midwife
  • Pharmacy
  • Respiratory therapy

The following units earned 90 percent or greater hand hygiene adherence for the week of Sept. 24 to 30:

  • 2RCW2 (gastrointestinal, organ transplant, and surgical specialty)
  • 5 Short Stay
  • Level 11 of UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital
  • 7JCP (Dialysis)
  • NICU (neonatal intensive care unit)
