The Carver College of Medicine is soliciting speaker nominations for the Distinguished Biomedical Scholars Lecture Series beginning in fall 2019. These speakers are invited by both basic and clinical departments, ensuring topics of broad interest for a diverse audience.
The Distinguished Biomedical Scholars Lecture Series is designed to feature the most outstanding scientists from around the world. Speakers should be prominently recognized for their scientific contributions in their respective fields and can be either rising stars or established investigators. They should be able to present their research in an engaging manner to a diverse audience, and their research should have broad relevance. Nominations for women and under-represented minorities are highly encouraged. Departments may nominate speakers invited for an already established departmental lecture for co-sponsorship. - Lectures are held every third Thursday in September, October, November, February, March, April, and May from 4 to 5 p.m. These dates can be flexible upon request.
- Honorarium is $2,000 and is paid by the Dean’s Office, and $1,000 will also be provided by the Dean’s Office for travel and dinner costs with the remainder to be the responsibility of the co-sponsoring department/program/center/institute.
- Travel arrangements, itineraries, advertising, etc. are done by the Dean’s Office.
