Safety Store offering free cable and trigger locks Nov. 18

UI Health Care partners with health and safety organizations across the country to emphasize focus on injury prevention. One aspect of injury prevention for children is the safe storage of firearms.

This National Injury Prevention Day (Thursday, Nov. 18), employees can stop by the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital Safety Store (Level 1, Gerdin Family Lobby) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to receive a free cable or trigger lock, while supplies last.

  • A cable lock is a cable that goes through the firearm and prevents it from being fired by blocking the barrel or the use of ammunition.
  • A trigger lock is a lock that fits over a firearm’s trigger and trigger guard to prevent the weapon from being fired.
