The following message is distributed on behalf of the HCIS Help Desk.
Beginning at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, HCIS will be performing network maintenance that will result in brief network interruptions between in-house traffic and the outside internet. For 30 to 90 seconds, external websites will not be accessible from within University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics sites, and UI Hospitals & Clinics network resources will not be accessible from outside. Epic sessions on hospital and clinic computers will not be affected.
What to expect while inside UI Hospitals & Clinics
If you are at the hospital or a clinic, you will still be able to access some services like Epic, email, and ELMS. However, you will not be able to access most websites, such as The Point or the ESC Portal. Additionally, the Guestnet Wi-Fi network will not be available during this short amount of time.
What to expect if outside of UI Hospitals & Clinics
If you are on a network outside the hospital or a clinic, services such as Remote Access (Citrix), MyChart, and VPN connections will not be available until after the maintenance has completed.

Community connect sites (action needed)
UI Community Connect (UICC) sites will be unable to use Epic during this maintenance window. These sites should logout of Epic and Citrix prior to 5:30 a.m. At 5:35 a.m., UICC sites should be able to log back into Citrix and Epic. During the five minute window, UICC network teams may want to reset the VPN tunnel with UI Hospitals & Clinics. Additionally, after the upgrade, lab device connectivity will need to be reset. Contact your local Help Desk if you have questions on this event.
