Reminder: New ID badges being issued

The image above is an example of the new ID badge layout.

The process of issuing new ID badges to all UI Hospitals & Clinics employees, volunteers, and students is ongoing.

What you need to know:

  • You do not need to take action at this time. The UI Health Care Badge Center will send you an email when it’s time for you to receive your new badge.
  • Only hospital card holders will be issued new ID badges. If you use a Carver College of Medicine branded Iowa One Card (university photo ID), you are not affected by this initiative.
  • The Badge Center will travel to various satellite card distribution sites both on and off site for individuals to conveniently obtain their new badges.
  • This is not an overnight process. It will take time, and we fully appreciate your understanding as we move forward.

Stay tuned for future updates on the UI Health Care re-badging initiative.

  1. That is Herky’s badge thus it is Herky’s picture on the badge. When you receive your card it will display your picture.

  2. Will these new badges have the ability to go into the MRI scan room without losing charging functionality?

    • Hi April,
Unfortunately, these new badges will not have that ability. The new badges still have a mag stripe on the back that risks being demagnetized if used.

    • Hi Thomas,
The Badge Center is working closely with HR representatives and Safety and Security to ensure that we can conveniently accommodate employees working those shifts.

    • Hi Tim,
The Badge Center plans to pre-print new badges with the existing photo if it is less than 10 years old. If you do not meet this criteria, they will contact you to make arrangements for a new photo.
