Level 12 of UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital reserved for patients, families during Hawkeye home football games

Throughout the 2019 Iowa Hawkeyes football season, eligible pediatric patients hospitalized at UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital, their parents, and healthy siblings, can watch the home game action from Level 12—the top level of the children’s hospital.

Beginning one hour before kickoff until 30 minutes after the game ends, Level 12 is reserved solely for eligible pediatric patients, their parents, and siblings. These patients and family members receive special tickets from hospital staff to attend the Child Life Tailgate Party held on Level 12.

UI Health Care faculty and staff, students, volunteers, as well as the public, may not access Level 12 during these times on game days.

On home game weekends, visitors to the hospital should enter through one of the two main entrances (UI Hospitals & Clinics or UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital). All other entrances, as well as the Level 1 and Level 2 connectors to the children’s hospital, are secured from 9 p.m. Friday until Sunday morning. All visitors will be screened at the main entrances by members of our security team. This is in addition to the security and health screening that happens on all children’s hospital inpatient units. Information desk and security staff will verify patient locations for all visitors and help with wayfinding.
