Hand hygiene top performers, July 2 to 8

Over the past week there are several units that achieved 100 percent on hand hygiene adherence for the week of July 2 to 9:

  • 3JPW (gynecology, oral surgery, and otolaryngology)
  • 4JPE  (adult bone marrow transplant)
  • 4JPW (adult hematology oncology)
  • 5 Short Stay
  • 6JCP (neurosurgery)
  • 6JPP (maternal child)
  • 6RCP (family practice/internal medicine)
  • Level 11 of UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital (pediatric cancer center)
  • Level 9 of UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital (pediatric medial surgical)
  • MICU (medical intensive care unit)
  • PICU (pediatric intensive care)

There were also several job categories that achieved 100 percent on hand hygiene adherence:

  • Child life
  • Dietary
  • Lab
  • Med tech
  • Medical assistant
  • Medical student
  • PA/ARNP/midwife
  • Radiology tech
  • Social work
  • Speech pathology
  • Volunteer

The following units achieved hand hygiene adherence of 90 percent or greater:

  • NICU (neonatal intensive care)
  • 2BT (neurology)
  • 2RCW2 (gastrointestinal, organ transplant, and surgical specialty)
  • 8JCP (burn center)
  • SNICU (surgical intensive care)
  • CVICU (cardiac intensive care)
  • 3BT (medical psychiatry)
  • 3RCW (short stay)

There were three job categories that achieved 90 percent or greater on hand hygiene adherence:

  • Nurse
  • Physician
  • Resident
