Following the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorizing a second booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech and the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for adults ages 50 and older, UI Health Care will begin administering these second booster doses to eligible employees, volunteers, and patients on Monday, April 4.
This second booster dose may be administered to individuals ages 50 and older at least four months after receiving the first booster dose of any approved COVID-19 mRNA vaccine.
The FDA also authorized a second booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to select groups:
- Pfizer-BioNTech: A second booster dose may be administered to immunocompromised individuals ages 12 and older at least four months after receiving their first booster dose of any approved COVID-19 vaccine.
- Moderna: A second booster dose may be administered to immunocompromised individuals ages 18 and older at least four months after receiving their first booster dose of any approved COVID-19 vaccine.
Getting vaccinated
Employees can schedule their COVID-19 booster dose vaccination by self-scheduling in ReadySet, by calling the University Employee Health Clinic at 319-356-3631, option 1, or by emailing employee-health@uiowa.edu.
Patients and members of the community can receive a COVID-19 vaccine through UI Health Care by visiting uihc.org/covid-vaccine.
