Beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, Evashevski Drive will close to vehicle and pedestrian traffic between Lot 43 N. Drive and Hawkins Drive as renovations begin on Kinnick Stadium’s north end zone. See the map below. During construction, motorists should use the Hawkins Drive entrance and exit to Hospital Parking Ramp 3. These closures will be in place through summer 2019.
The construction zone will close the street level pedestrian connection between the West Campus Transportation Center (WCTC) and the Evashevski Drive/Hawkins Drive intersection.
All pedestrians must use the skywalk between the WCTC and UI Hospitals and Clinics to cross over the construction zone. Pedestrians will be able to use the Hospital Parking Ramp 3 stairs or elevator to access the skywalk from the intersection of Evashevski Drive/Hawkins Drive.
Permit holders in Parking Lots 43 and 80 were sent an email from the Parking Office containing details specific to their parking lot.
The intersection of Evashevski Drive and Melrose Avenue will have a temporary traffic light for the duration of this project. Traffic may be heavy at times.
Many CAMBUS routes will be rerouted to approach the WCTC via the intersection of Melrose Avenue and Evashevski Drive instead of Melrose Avenue and Hawkins Drive. Some stall assignments have also changed to accommodate buses during the construction. Permits holders in Parking Lots 55, 65, 75, 80, and 85 were sent an email from the Parking Office containing details specific to their parking lot. Read the signs of the bus you are boarding to ensure you’re boarding the route you intend to take.
