159 Support Services Center online portal now available

Need a bed moved? Have a door that won’t close? Room too hot or too cold?

Submit non-urgent work requests to Engineering Services, Environmental Services, and Guest Services through the new 159 Support Services Center portal, a convenient online application. Through the system, you’ll also receive email notifications when a job has been received and completed.

The portal is available to staff in UI Hospitals and Clinics, UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital, the Center for Development and Disabilities, UI Health Care-Iowa River Landing, and UI Sports Medicine.

You’ll find a link to 159 Support Services Center under Top Links on The Point, and the link is also available on Voalte phones.

You can submit requests to:

  • Engineering Services for non-urgent common repairs such as replace light bulbs, patch a dent in the wall, or fix a door that does not close
  • Environmental Services to pick up full confidential and recycling bins or clean a spill
  • Guest Services to deliver equipment to your unit or Biomedical Engineering

You’ll also find quick links to request keys, equipment or office moves, cleaning, surplus, minor projects, or for space requests.

How do I know my request has been received?

You’ll get email notifications that have a tracking number when your work request has been received and when the work is completed. If you have questions about your request, use the work request tracking number when calling the 159 Call Center for request updates.

How do I use it?

Fill out the required fields (marked in red), including as much detail as possible in the “Action Requested” section.

What about the 159 Call Center?

The 159 Call Center is still available to take work requests.

What if I have an urgent request?

If you have an issue that requires immediate attention or affects patient care, call the 159 Call Center.

Can I use this site to request a patient transport?

No, patient transport requests will still be made through Epic.

  1. Engineering Services, Environmental Service and Guest Service keep so busy around and I wonder how often they will be able to check their printer for the work order.

  2. I called 159 for an update on a ticket I opened at approx. 8:15am and 159 told me they couldn’t see the ticket and I would have to give me a different # to call to get the status.
