Accolades

• Charles Brenner, PhD, chair and DEO of biochemistry, won the 2016 American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Award for Exemplary Contributions to Education.
• J. Lawrence Marsh, MD, chair and DEO of orthopedics and rehabilitation, was elected president of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
• The American Heart Association selected pharmacology faculty members Justin Grobe, PhD, for the 2015 Harry Goldblatt New Investigator Award, and Kamal Rahmouni, PhD, for the 2015 Mid-Career Award for Research Excellence. Grobe researches metabolic and cardiovascular control by the brain and how disruptions in the renin-angiotensin system can result in hypertension and obesity. Rahmouni’s laboratory focuses on the neurobiology of metabolism, energy homeostasis, and cardiovascular function and related disorders such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.
