Leadership and Professional Coaching:

Coaching is a structured process and partnership that encourages leaders to produce breakthrough results in their professional lives. Coaches are trained to listen, observe, and customize their approaches to individual leaders. During a coaching session, the coach will elicit solutions and strategies from the leader, since the leader is viewed as a naturally creative and resourceful individual. The coach encourages self-discovery and holds the leader responsible and accountable for making forward progress toward that leader’s goals.

Consulting usually implies an expertise in a specific area. Consultants are more focused on giving advice, while coaches are focused on asking impactful questions that allow the person being coached to discover and determine what he/she wants to achieve. In turn, the person being coached responsible and accountable for solutions, strategies, and actions set by himself/herself.

The Learning and Development Department can combine leadership coaching with department and/or organizational consulting projects.
