Education/Background:
Janelle has worked for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics since October 2008. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Coe College and Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in health advocacy from Mount Mercy University.
Responsibilities:
Janelle is a Patient Education Specialist in the Office of The Patient Experience. She is responsible for developing and coordinating activities for the Patient Education Program related to patient education, health literacy, and plain language communication within the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Janelle provides expertise and promotes best practices on patient education and plain language communication for patients, staff, visitors, and students throughout the hospital. She participates in the readability review and maintenance of all patient education materials. Janelle is involved in the education and training of staff on health literacy and plain language communication.
