Niko Iben

Patient Experience Coach

Education:

Niko received his Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and Secondary Education from the University of Iowa and his Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Purdue University Global. Upon receiving his Bachelor’s degree, Niko taught and coached at the High School level in Decorah, IA. Niko joined the UIHC team in 2018 where he held various roles in the Patient Access Center as a Scheduler, Lead, and most recently Coordinator of the Primary Areas (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, General Pediatrics, and the UIComm Clinics). Niko helped roll out TeamSTEPPS to the UI PAC as well as developed a standardized scheduling training curriculum based on clinic approved scheduling guidelines.

Responsibilities:

As a Patient Experience Coach, Niko drives Patient Experience strategy by working with areas to assist leaders in hardwiring tactics to improve the Patient Experience through support and mentorship.  Niko assists the department leadership in developing plans to provide coaching support through review of results and patient feedback.

Niko partners with hospital leadership to develop and ensure the effective and consistent implementation of Excellence Every Time, Provider Communication, and Compassionate Connected Care strategies across the hospital. He works closely with hospital leaders to analyze survey results and identify, prioritize, plan, and oversee improvement efforts, as well as participates in the identification of service performance targets and improvement strategies.

Hobbies/Special Interests:

I enjoy spending time with my family, working and playing outdoors, reading, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
