Hospital Interpreter

Responsibilities:

Interpret for Spanish speaking patients, their families and hospital staff. Translate documents from English to Spanish and Spanish to English. Clerical duties including interpreting for conference calls, maintaining the daily list, and securing interpreters for medical appointments for other languages besides Spanish.

Education/Background:

Education: BA in Marketing & Spanish, MA in Spanish
Certifications/Licensure: Certified Healthcare Interpreter ™
Professional Memberships: Associate Member of the Iowa Interpreters and Translators Association

Special Interests and Activities:

Open water swimming, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, sponsor a child named Kensy who lives in Honduras through Child Fund International, sprint triathlons, weightlifting, volunteering at the Iowa City Free Medical and Dental Clinic, reality TV, reading, movies, theatre, dance, sports, music, donating plasma
