1. Welcome to my blog

My name is Dr. Douglas K Henstrom and I would like to welcome you to my blog.  I am the Director of Facial Cosmetic and Plastic surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Iowa.  This is my first attempt at blogging but I would like to be able to reach as many people as possible to discuss and answer any questions regarding facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.  While I have a list of many different things to blog about, I’d also be happy to answer questions or discuss topics of your choosing.  Feel free to leave a reply below.

  2. Rhinoplasty Conference 2013

So I spent the majority of last week in Chicago at one of the single best Rhinoplasty courses in the world. Put on and sponsored by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, it consisted of 4 days of world-renowned lectures, panels and discussions. Learning from the “Masters” is always a unique and humbling experience but always gives me more ways to improve outcomes for my patients. Very happy I attended and look forward to any and all of you who are considering surgical treatment and/or changes to your nose. I can’t wait to meet you.

  3. Follow up on facial paralysis story

As I pointed out in my last blog, not all I do is cosmetic in nature. Here is a follow up youtube video about Natalie, a young patient who came from Utah to see me for facial reanimation surgery. Our facial nerve center is one of only a few in the country dedicated to treating patients with facial paralysis. Enjoy.
