Please welcome Dr. Joseph Glykys to the Department in the Division of Neurology as Assistant Professor. Dr. Joseph Glykys earned his medical degree from Universidad de Carabobo in 2001. He then completed his PhD in 2007 at the University California. Dr. Glykys completed pediatric research fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Department of Neurology in 2009. Subsequently, he completed a pediatric internship at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2010. He then completed pediatric residency training through Partners Neurology Residency Program of the Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women’s Hospitals in 2013. Upon graduation, Dr. Glykys has worked as an Instructor in Neurology and an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. He has also worked as an Assistant in Neurology and Assistant Neurologist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.
We have recruited Glykys to the physician scientist position. His research areas include neuronal hyper-excitability, neonatal seizures, GABAA receptor physiology mediating phasic and tonic inhibition, as well as changes in neuronal chloride concentration during development and under pathological conditions.
Dr. Glykys’ clinical responsibilities will include half day clinic sessions and on-call responsibilities in rotation with other faculty members. Additionally, he will share in the coverage of the neurology inpatient and consultation services.
