Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality honor awarded by Human Rights Campaign

University of Iowa Health Care has been recognized as a “Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality” by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of the country’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization.

The findings were part of the foundation’s Healthcare Equality Index 2016, the national benchmarking tool that evaluates policies and practices related to the equality and inclusion of LGBT patients, visitors, and employees. UI Health Care earned top marks in meeting non-discrimination and training criteria that demonstrate a commitment to equitable, inclusive care.

This is the fourth consecutive year that UI Health Care, which opened an LGBTQ Clinic in 2012, has earned the equality care honor.
