Accolades

Wallace-AlwardWallace L.M. Alward, MD, professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences and department vice chair, was named the inaugural recipient of the American Glaucoma Society Outstanding Educator Award. He created and maintains Gonioscopy.org, which uses videography to teach examination techniques involved in gonioscopy. He also recently produced and released a teaching website for residents and others interested in learning about glaucoma.
 
Rick-Domann2Frederick Domann, PhD, professor of radiation oncology, pathology, and surgery, received a Distinguished Scientist Award from the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine. An internationally recognized expert in free radical biology and cancer, Domann is director of the Molecular & Cellular Biology Graduate Program and co-director of both the Radiation and Antioxidant Enzyme Core Service and the Free Radical Cancer Biology Program.
 
Beth-TariniBeth Tarini, MD, Fred G. Smith Chair in Academic Pediatrics in the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics, was appointed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Advisory Committee on Heritable Disorders in Newborn Children, which helps provide guidance to states about their newborn screening programs.
