Student Government takes active role

Without accreditation, U.S. medical schools can’t prepare students for licensure in the medical profession. And UI Carver College of Medicine Student Government is playing a crucial role in helping the school get reaccredited in 2009.

Student Government leaders spearheaded the student self-study portion of the re-accreditation process performed every eight years. That assessment will take place when the Liaison Committee of Medical Education (LCME) site team visits the UI in October.

“Re-accreditation maintains the integrity of the MD degree and keeps the school to the highest values of medical education,” Lyndsay Harshman, student government president-elect, said. (more…)
