White Coat Ceremony initiates class of 2012

Though the academic year has barely begun, the UI Carver College of Medicine’s 148-member class of 2012 has arrived on campus and already has marked what Dean Paul Rothman called “the first of many milestones”—the donning of the medical profession’s white coat.
The College’s 14th annual White Coat Ceremony, held Aug. 22, capped a week of orientation activities for members of the entering class and their families, spouses, partners and friends. Featuring a keynote address by Rebecca Hegeman, MD, clinical associate professor of internal medicine, the ceremony initiated class members into the formal study of medicine. (more…)
