I am eternally grateful to Cathy because from my classmate she became my mentor, guide and philosopher. I had learnt so many things and still intend to learn from her. All the best to her for her deanship!

Excellent! We all communicate effectively in certain situations, and unfortunately not in others. I applaud this project as it teaches the skills we have in an integrated way so that we can draw on these skills in situations where we would have been less resourceful.
It is of vital importance to create rapport and trust with patients quickly and effectively. The more the medical profession improves its communication the more effectively can it help society as a whole.
As this post was written almost a year ago I'd be interested in finding out what response you've had so far from the students.

Thanks for providing this moving article. These ceremonies are so fitting for the families of the person who donated their bodies to the University to advance science, and an important reminder to those who 'learn' from them during the course of their studies. I have been to the cemetery and it is so quiet and moving. Thanks to all who showed their respect to the souls who provided these learning vessels.

Thank God for people like you!! Children and their families especially need your attitude and your compassionate approach to medical care.
Adults also need empathy and understanding- to know someone cares
that you are sick or hurt- So many people do not have anyone close -family or friends to help them when they face serious illness. Good luck in all that you do!!!!! Barb

Dr. Van Dyke is, first and foremost, a wonderful physician. He is very knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate. He made himself available, even after hours and on weekends, for patients and families on the UHS/CDD Pediatric Developmental Disabilities Unit. He is helpful and respectful toward everyone he works with: patients, families, colleagues, and students. His varied life experiences and diverse interests contribute to his strong mentoring skills. It is a privilege to work with Dr. Van Dyke.

I’m an online medical supplier, Vitality Medical. I wish I had had the opportunity to attend. It is important for us to stay informed about the issues that the medical professionals who work in rural areas.

Large portions of our customers are located in rural areas where the nearest medical supply store may be 300 plus miles away. Our urban customers often come to us based on our price but our rural customers often come to us because in some cases we are truly the only option.

Good for you Lauren Hughes! Good for you Carver College of Medicine! Good for you everyone who attended and participated! It is good to know that work is being done to recruit and train more medical professionals for the country folk. Keep up the good work!
