52nd Annual Drosophila Research Conference

The Department of Biochemistry was well represented at the 52nd Annual Drosophila Research Conference held in San Diego from March 30 to April 3, 2011. Lori Wallrath moderated the “Chromatin and Epigenetics” platform session while Pamela Geyer moderated “Regulation of Gene Expression.” Research posters were presented by Michael Vitalini and Diane Cryderman in the Wallrath laboratory and by Alexey Soshnev and Ryan Baxley in the Geyer laboratory.

Ryan Baxley’s Poster Awards

Kudos to Ryan Baxley, a graduate student in Pam Geyer’s laboratory, who was recognized with a poster award at the Annual Drosophila Research Conference in Washington, DC. Ryan presented “Elucidating the Role of a Drosophila Insulator Protein in the Female Germline” with co-authors Alexey Soshnev, Harsha Doddapaneni, John Manak and Dr. Geyer. Ryan returned to Iowa City to present his poster at the college of medicine’s research week, where he won a best poster award!
